The 49ers may not have Shaun Hill's contract finished yet, but Jerard Rabb is in the fold. You may remember Rabb, who started the 2007 season with the Cowboys and ended it on the San Francisco practice squad, as the Boise State receiver who scored this touchdown:The Niners also re-signed Thomas Clayton, last year's preseason NFL rushing leader, who will compete for playing time if Maurice Hicks leaves as an unrestricted free agent.
The big 49ers news today is a debate between 2 Mercury News columnists about the viability of the Santa Clara stadium project, as the city council is currently deliberating on whether to put public stadium funding on the ballot. Tim Kawakami says the York family's inept track record guarantees they will never be able to pull it off, while Mark Purdy claims that fans need to pull for the Santa Clara plan to work, as it is the only hope to keep the team in the Bay Area long term. Amusingly enough, Purdy and Kawakami take cheap shots at each other during the course of their columns.
Apparently Kawakami is a busy man. He also had time to answer some questions on the Warriors team and front office for the guys at Golden State of Mind. As we approach the one-year anniversary of the acquisition of Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington, there is plenty of reflection on the team's past and future in the Bay Area papers. This article in the Chronicle is the most insightful of the bunch.
Bay Area Sports Today
5pm (Fox Sports Bay Area) - Warriors (22-16) vs. Timberwolves (5-31)
The Dubs are 2-0 so far in the nine-game gift from the NBA schedule makers. I said several days ago that they need to win 7 of these 9, and they should be able to cruise in this one.
